How to Follow Hyperlinks in Word and Outlook Without Using the Control Key?

In the default mode, users are required to press the Control key when clicking on the hyperlinks in Word or Outlook to launch all of them in their internet browser. If you have any file with many hyperlinks to follow, then hitting the Control key each time gets annoying.
When you move your mouse on a hyperlink that time, you have noticed a popup that will tell you to Ctrl + Click to follow the link.
If you are not interested in pressing Ctrl each of the time you follow a link then you can switch-off the Ctrl + Click feature easily.
You can easily disable the Ctrl + Click feature in Outlook if people you know the email you links often.

How to Disable Ctrl + Click to Follow Hyperlinks in Word?

  • First of all, you need to click on the File tab and then click on the Options.
  • Then move to the Word Options dialog box.
  • Here you need to click on the advanced option that is placed on the left.
  • Now, you need to uncheck the Use CTRL + Click to follow hyperlink box in the Editing options section on the right and then click on the OK option.
  • Now, you will see that the cursor instantly changes to a hand when you move your mouse on a hyperlink
  • Now, you no need to press the Ctrl key when you click on the link to follow it.

How to Disable Ctrl + Click to Follow Hyperlinks in Outlook?

  • For this, you need to click on the File tab and then click on the Options.
  • Then navigate to the Outlook Options dialog box.
  • Here, you need to click on the Mail on the left.
  • Then you need to click on the Editor Options in the Compose messages section on the right side.
  • After that, you need to click on the advanced option on the left side of the Editor Options dialog box.
  • Now, you will uncheck all of the Use CTRL + Click to follow hyperlink box in the Editing options section on the right.
  • At last, you will click on the OK option.
When you move your mouse cursor over a hyperlink, the cursor changes to a hand and then you will able to click on follow the link without using the Ctrl key.

There is a Trade-Off

After disabling the Ctrl + Click option, it will stop you from being able to simply click on the hyperlinked text to edit it, as that will open the link in your default browser. It can happen because Microsoft added the Ctrl + Click feature.
But no need to worry for it, you can use the arrow keys to move into hyperlinked text if you really don’t want to press the Ctrl key on a hyperlink to follow it.
