How to Deactivate Automatic Download on iOS Device


It would be surprising to see a file in your iOS device which gets automatically downloaded. An automatic download could be problematic because it uses up the data to a great extent. For some, automatic download is an excellent facility in the device because it can keep the content in sync. For example, if you have purchased music on your Apple device, it will be available on another device if you have activated automatic download.
In the same way, some users don’t feel that auto download is useful for them. Since the auto download will keep adding data in your devices, it will use all the storage space. Another reason is the use of internet data resulting in its over-consumption. Hence turning off the automatic download is an option that comes to you to save data consumption and saves the storage in the device.

Now, let’s see how to deactivate download automatic download on the iOS device
1.       Open the settings of your iOS device.
2.       Tap the Name at the top of the Settings menu.
3.       It is your Apple ID.
4.       Go to the iTunes & App Store and tap to open.
5.       In the new tab, find the Automatic Downloads section.
6.       There is Music, Apps, Books & Audiobooks and Updates options are turned on by default.
7.       Select those which you want to turn off.
8.       Now, tap the toggle button one by one to turn them off.
9.       It will deactivate download on the iOS device.
10.   You can also turn off Use Cellular Data. In iOS 9 and its successive versions, you will Use Mobile Data. It will prevent the device from automatic download files unexpectedly.
Since the automatic download can be activated because of Wi-Fi connections, you must also disable the Wi-Fi Assist. It is a feature in iOS 9 and its later versions which have enabled the feature by default.
1.       Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
2.       Now, tap Mobile and scroll down to the bottom of the display.
3.       Navigate to Wi-Fi Assist.
4.       Now, tap to turn off Wi-Fi Assist.
Remember, that deactivating the automatic download feature will also prevent the device software updates from downloading.  In that case, you must keep yourself notified with the release of new updates to download them manually, or you can keep the Wi-Fi assist or Mobile Data option activated.
