How to use Smart Annotation Feature on iPad

Apple announced a bunch of software updates to help the company’s efforts regarding education in April. Apple also unveiled one of its software features called ‘Smart Annotation”, this works in Pages on an iPad. This feature is smart because any annotations are tied to the text in a document, the annotation itself follows it if the sentence is circled and is later moved down in a paragraph. However, Apple recommends making a copy of any document which you plan using smart annotations.

To add Annotation

You only need an iPad and Pages to use it and add an annotation. You will be having a couple of options when it comes to annotating a document. Use the Apple’s Pencil to tap on the iPad’s screen to bring forth the drawing options. You just need a tap; if you tap and hold apple pencil on iPad’s screen, drawing mode will be activated. If you don’t have an Apple pencil and want to use your fingertip, just tap on the three dot icon and select the smart annotation beta from the Drop-down menu. When the annotation is finished, tap on Done.

Delete the Annotation

It is the easiest step; annotations are easy to remove, just tap on the Delete button.

Turn off the Smart Annotations

When you are willing to view a document without any annotation, but you don’t want to delete it either, just turn off the smart annotation by tapping the view button in the top-left corner, slide the button of smart annotation to the off position.

Exporting through Annotations

You can also export a document with smart Annotations in place as it is a Pages document or a PDF because many other formats are not currently supported like the RTF, EPUB, and Pages’09.
